Wide Open Spaces

Our former next door neighbor (she is like a grandma to me, and we fondly call her Miss Kathi) moved about 30 minutes away to her sister's horse farm. We finally got to visit for lunch on the afternoon of July 18. The weather was perfect, which was a fabulous addition to an already wonderful day.
Miss Kathi and her sister Mary's house is propped up on a bit of a hill. When we arrived, we were greeted by the sisters and their three dogs: two Jack russells named Smith and Wesson, and a bichon frise named Halo. (Halo, who is as much of a diva as a dog can be, has actually adjusted very nicely to her new life as a "farm girl" :)

After being treated to the grand tour of their charming abode, we headed down the hill to a cute little pond. I sat out on the pond in a little kayak and took pictures, while the boys tried their luck at fishing. They actually caught a few, although our usual master fisherman, Logan, had very little luck that day.

For lunch, Miss Mary made a fabulous lunch of thick, juicy hamburgers and lots of delicious sides. "It seems like whenever I'm making burgers, I'm always hungry--so I usually end up making them extra thick!" Miss Mary chuckled.

We hung out around the farm for the afternoon and had a fantastic time. I hope we go back soon!
