nighty night

One of my favorite lullabies is the sound of a delicate nighttime rain on my bedroom window, serenading me as I drift off to sleep.

the smell of happiness

Dad made extra coffee this morning, and thank goodness he did. That glorious cup of joe saved me from looking/feeling/acting like a complete zombie in class today.

While I can't recall a time that I ever disliked the smell of coffee, it took minimal effort on my part to acquire a taste for drinking it; I started with doctored-up concoctions like the caramel frappe and the ever-popular cafe mocha.  Now I enjoy coffee, but not religiously.  I can survive adequately enough without touching a coffee-related beverage for days on end.

With my new job, I'm around coffee a lot. My second worst fear about the job is that I'll get sick of all the edible items I work around, including the coffee. My first would be that I'll end up failing miserably at trying to familiarize myself with how to make all the beverages.  Who decided to mess around with coffees and flavored syrups and powders and milk in the kitchen, just to come up with scores of drinks to overwhelm my brain?  I'd like to meet that person.

If I did, I would probably end up praising him for his brilliant imagination instead of complaining that it's all too confusing. It will all make sense in time.

On a side note...

TOMORROW IS FRIDAY.  :) My weeks have been going by so much faster this year than ever before. I think it's because I'm constantly feeling like I don't have enough time for anything and everything anymore.  You know what though? Life gets crazy, but God's still on his throne.  Read Colossians 1:17. This is one of my favorite verses for crazy days.  It's short and simple, but that's the beauty of it.

hey monday

I baked chocolate chip cookies for a grade today. This recipe was straight out of my "Lab Manual" (code word for Home Ec recipe book), and it's safe to say that it rivals the famed  Nestle Toll House cookie recipe. Yesterday was a great day (Sunday night youth group started back up again! Woo!) But you know... Mondays really don't have to be bad. Sure, I have an essay due on the 30th and a giant research paper to start looking into. But hey. It's kind of what juniors in high school do. It just isn't worth fretting over.  Now if you'll excuse me, I do have a leaning tower of homework on my desk that eagerly awaits me. I can't say I'm so eager.  Yay for AP classes!
